Covenant for Church Evaluation

(Living Document and a work in progress)

WE BELIEVE: This covenant is a mutually created commitment to Ministry. It is grounded in our relationship with God, who created us and called us all to the ‘priesthood of all believers.’ It says, ‘Here is what we will endeavor to do together and how we will hold one another accountable.” It is a commitment to life and growth for the entire congregation.

As St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church moves forward in an expanded time of growth and discovery, we reach out to our current members and the local community with service, caring and awareness.

Our Church Goals:

To have a fun year, with simply planned and executed events that allow us to invite people to become active in St. Andrew's ministry and grow closer to God. 

We will hold a minimum of 4 major events and 6 smaller activities throughout the Year:

  • We will agree on who is in charge of an event (Team Leader or Chair) and decide on an expected outcome before planning the event
  • We will incorporate at least 1 "newcomer" in leadership of each event
  • We will work to give people specific jobs and allow them decision making power
  • Each committee will focus on advertising and personal invitation of people to activities
  • With Team Leader/Chair, Pastor, and 1-2 others we will evaluate each of our major events.

In order to assist in the fulfillment of these goals Staff-Parish commits to:

  1. Meet with the pastor a minimum of 8 time a year
  2. Consider staffing issues and solutions to make fulfilling Church goals possible
  3. Work to update general job descriptions and assist staff in finding resources for & developing their professional skills
  4. Consider how to better show appreciation for staff throughout the year
  5. Build greater understanding among SPR, our staff and the congregation 

Pastor's Goals:

  1. Empower Committees to make decisions: including decisions on how to spend their budgets
  2. Work on how we communicate with the right people in the right way to fulfill our mission
  3. Be willing to let things go if others are not passionate or interested in leading them
  4. Find new ways to connect with our neighborhood, new people in the area, etc.
