A Daily Prayer
by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

O God, early in the morning I cry to you.

Help me to pray

And to concentrate my thoughts on you;

I can’t do this alone.

In me there’s darkness,

But with you there’s light;

I’m lonely, but you don’t leave me;

I’m feeble in heart, but with you there’s help;

I’m restless, but with you there’s peace.

In me there’s bitterness, but with you there’s patience;

I don’t understand your ways,

But you know the way for me.

O Heavenly Father,

I praise and thank you

For rest in the night;

I praise and thank you for this new day;

I praise and thank you for all your goodness

and faithfulness throughout my life.

You have granted me many blessings;

Now let me also accept what’s hard from your hand.

You will lay on me no more than I can bear.

You make all things work together for good for your children.

Lord Jesus Christ,

You were poor and in distress, a captive and forsaken as I am.

You know all man’s troubles;

You abide with me when all men fail me;

You remember and seek me;

It’s your will that I should know you and turn to you.

Lord, I hear your call and follow;

Help me.

O Holy Spirit,

Give me faith that will protect me

from despair, from passions, and from vice;

Give me such love for God and mankind

as will blot out all hatred and bitterness;

Give me the hope that will deliver me

from fear and faint-heartedness.

Amen.

Virus Alert Process

As we get closer to our time of reopening, we want to make sure that everyone is aware of the substantial safety procedures that we have put into place. There will be posters throughout the church reminding us of our responsibilities to keep everyone safe.

If you or anyone in your household test positive for the virus, or is placed in quarantine because they have come into contact with someone who tested positive for the virus, please alert the church office as soon as possible so that we can take the appropriate precautions.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Dismantling Racism Pressing On To Freedom

United Methodist leaders across the denomination are hosting a series of virtual town hall discussions as part of the "Dismantling Racism: Pressing on to Freedom" initiative. During the month of August leaders will host two town hall meetings on August 19 and 26 starting at 12:00 p.m. CST/1:00 p.m. EST. Moderator Erin Hawkins will lead both discussions. Each town hall will be recorded and posted online. Participants may submit questions for panelists ahead of time.

Emerging leaders discuss dismantling racism

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26 AT 12:00 P.M. CST/1:00 P.M. EST

In this current season, rising leaders are studying the leadership of those who came before and adding their energy to the ongoing work of dismantling racism. As a part of our Town Hall series on anti-racism, we present a panel of younger leaders to hear about their strategies for changing the world and their encouragement for partners in this work. We will hear about their vision for how take action with intention and how the Church can draw from the wisdom of the past and hope for the future. They will respond to your questions about their vision for how to take action with intention and how the Church can draw from the wisdom of the past and hope for the future. Join panelists Ann Jacob, Theon Johnson III, Andres De Arco and Katelin Hansen for this important conversation.

Annual Conference 2020 needs YOU!

As you may know, Annual Conference is a phrase we use in two ways. First, we are part of the Pacific North Annual Conference of the UMC, which is a geogrphaic region led by Bishop Elaine Stanovsky. Second: each year Methodists (clergy and laity) from our region come together at Annual Conference for worship, to comission and ordain new elders and deacons, and to vote on matters pertaining to our life together as Methodists. Each local church sends voting delegates. In addition to these delegates, there are other opportunities to share your voice and your vote at annual conference: by applying to be a youth delegate or young adult delegate.

Let us know if you’d like an application.

For some are you in need of a mask?

time, the CDC has been recommending that everyone wear cloth masks while in public. If you are in need of a mask, or an extra mask, please contact the church. Thanks to a number of our church “angels”, we have a supply of adult and child-size masks to help you to stay safe and to keep others safe. If you are in need, please contact the church.

Here are some do’s and don’ts to help keep you and your family safe while wearing masks.

Do

  • wear a mask when running essential errands
  • practice 6-feet+ social distancing, even with the mask on in public
  • take the mask off by the ear elastic when you get home and wash it as soon possible
  • wash your hands for 20 seconds after removing the mask and on a regular basis

Don’t

  • touch the mask without washing your hands
  • play with the mask while wearing it
  • take the mask off by grabbing the center fabric near your mouth and nose
  • share masks with others in your household without washing them first
